Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form government in Manipur on its own.

Notably, the state will go to Assembly elections in the next couple of months.

The Chief Minister claimed this while responding to a query over the political scenario in the northeast while interacting with senior journalist from Assam on Saturday.

''For the second time the BJP is in power both in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. This time in Manipur, we will establish a government on our own,'' he added.

''I am confident that the BJP would form a proper administration in Manipur this time", he added.

He also claimed to form government in Tripura too, which will go to polls in 2023.

Sarma further said that the BJP will see growth in the states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
